Something needs to be done now, and we don't want to fail! So if one does not go through, we have the other petiton as a backup. Ideally, we want Petition #1 to go from the Zoning Commission to the Commissioners Meeting as a Resolution and then be approved. HOWEVER, if Petition #1 Does not go through, Petition #2 is a good safety net because it would at least mandate that these types of businesses would have to be off what the county calls (Arterial or Feeder Roads.) aka larger roads. Not small country roads with no striping. This would eliminate the ability for these businesses to be put into these rural areas.
PETITION 1 – We are asking that they move campgrounds, and other non-agricultural businesses from A-1 designation to another designation. This will make sure that Greene County residents have a say if one of these businesses tries to come into their neighborhood because they will be required to apply for a Zoning Designation Change. (if you are a farmer who has a few campsites, an event venue, or another stream of income, this does not affect you. We are trying to change big businesses that are not agricultural)
PETITION 2 – An Amendment to the current A-1 Zoning Designation. Currently, Small Day Care Centers with only 16 children are required to be off an (arterial or feeder street.) Yet Campgrounds, Mobile Home Parks, and other big traffic non-agriculture businesses DO NOT have the same limitations. They can place these LARGE businesses off any small country road they want, even those without lines that are only 1.5 lanes, without even checking on whether it will cause accidents, traffic, or other dangerous situations. These businesses have lots more traffic than Small Day Care Centers! These businesses MUST have the same restrictions or greater! It's unfair to limit small businesses and give LARGER BUSINESSES unlimited access. This change will help to keep campgrounds and other big traffic businesses off small country roads that are not designed for that sort of traffic.
